Not sure what to say?

Dutch was a great man. He encouraged men to be better athletes and better people. He was a very caring person that was loved by all who knew him.

Was sad to hear of Dutch's passing. He was such an icon who always had a smile and kind words for everyone he came into contact with. He was such a big part of my dad's life as a student and as an adult well past college. It was always fun to go to Baylor for a weekend and spend time with Betty and Dutch. My parents (Glynn and Betty Jo Fields) always loved being with the two of them. He will be missed, although he is in a much better place and I know he and Betty are together again...

I just learned of Coach Schroeder's passing. We go back a long way. My uncle, Ed Knebel, owned the Austin Pioneers in the Big State League. I remember watching the Temple Eagles play and once met Dutch..Later, I went out for the Travis High School baseball team in 1953 and unfortunately did not make the team. However, Coach Schroeder was very kind when he told me he picked another for catcher for the team. About 10 years ago I called to talk with him and reached his wife. She told...

What an incredible legacy Dutch has left! I still keep his hand-written letter that he wrote me after I graduated over 25 years ago in my desk drawer and run across it occasionally. (Nobody does that anymore.) Dutch was one of kind and will be greatly missed. God bless you Dutch for the many lives that you positively affected!

Coach, coached me in High School at Temple! Outstanding person and coach. Visited with him every time I came to a ball game. Don Berry went to Baylor 1953-1957!!

I have so many warm memories of this dear friend and coach. What an inspiration in my life he was, not only when I played baseball for him at Baylor (1960-62) but through the many following years. I must add that his coaching was responsible for my making the Major Leagues. Dutch was the epitome of high character, integrity, and a generous heart. When I think of him, I see Psalm 15:1-2 brought to life. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

''Twas a true honor to play for Coach Schroeder (66-70). His obit is long and so true, he touched the lives of so many -was an inspiration of greatness who touched the lives of all he came to know
