Jacksonville, Alabama
Major Dwayne Williams, 40, was a native of Jacksonville, Alabama. He was a graduate of the University Of North Alabama. Major Williams was a dedicated soldier, husband, father, and friend. He touched hundreds of lives with his enthusiasm, his energy, and his love for God and country. He died honorably as a soldier would, serving his army, country, fellow soldiers, and God. America has lost an outstanding soldier, husband, father, brother and son. However, we are comforted in knowing that "while he is absent from the body, he is present with the Lord." Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Tammy; 17 year-old son, Shelby; 13 year-old, daughter Kelsie.

Dwayne: I miss you so much big bro. Our 83 yr old mom Pearl Williams alzheimers is worsening & I promised her I would keep doing annual remembrances honoring you every Sept. 11. Instead of a sad memorial service, I host the Take the Day Back 9/11 Tribute Concert to Major Dwayne Williams here in Trussville near my home in Birmingham, Ala. featuring an Elvis & Aretha tribute artist, a positive hip-hop group & of course a saxophonist since Dad played the sax. It's a free concert thanks to...

Dwayne, I last knew you as Sgt. Williams at the 3d Ranger Battalion where we served together. I was thinking about you today. I will never forget you in my lifetime. You were driven, and inspiring. I just wanted to stop by again and say God loves you, and I know one day I will see you in Heaven. I will salute you. You were a very great Ranger and great man. We all miss you and I still to this day think back to our days in the Ranger Battalion. I love you brother, and I will never forget the...

It has been almost 23 years and a void remains in my heart from the tragic loss of my big brother, Army Maj. Dwayne Williams. I miss our weekly phone calls in which you gave me advice on marriage and raising children. I grew up living my dreams of being a hero by watching you excel on the basketball court, football field and watching you jump out of airplanes at airshows at Ft. Benning, Ga. that summer i stayed with you while working as a young journalist in Columbus, Ga. Rest in peace...

Sgt. Williams, as I last knew you as we stood side by side at 3d Ranger BN. I´m thinking of you, My Brother in Arms, as on this fateful day 22 years ago you left us but not Sua Sponte. You were taken from us all way too soon. I still think of you and how you helped me out upon my arrival into the Ranger Battalion. You were so calm with all the chaos going on around us. I thank you a thousand times over for taking the extra ruck off my back during our 8 mile ruck run. I´ll never forget it. You...

Today you ran across my mind. I sat remembering when we took Tyler and Curtis to their wrestling match and we spent the entire time chatting it up in the bleachers. It was a great day. Not to mention as you prepared to take my job at SSI. As neighbors we bonded as two Army majors would.and many times after. I recall your coffee mug and that awful bacca. You are an American HERO. RIP. Til we meet again my dear brother.til we meet againno one but God knows. But God
