Serenity Funeral Home and Cremation Services - Roanoke Obituary

Dwayne L. Miller ,"Big Wayne" was born September 10, 1974 in Roanoke VA. Dwayne went peacefully to be with the lord in the evening hours on Friday October, 26th surrounded by family and friends.

Dwayne graduated ℅ 1993 from William Fleming High School in Roanoke VA, participating in numerous sports and was captain of the varsity football team. Many don’t know that he was very artistic, loving to draw and write rhymes in his younger years. Later in life, Dwayne took an interest in cooking and aspired to one day become a chef. He loved cooking Sunday dinners for his family and friends. Dwayne was full of life and fun. He was admired by most for his gift to make people laugh and the love that he had for everyone. Dwayne was a care-giver to his Grandmother Shirley that raised him from a baby and showed devoted and everlasting love. “Big Wayne” known to most had a heart like no other. He never met a stranger and would give you the shirt off his back. He loved to entertain, have fun, and surround himself with his favorite friends. In his spare time he enjoyed listening to music and working his lawn care business, Miller’s Lawn Care.  He was very fond of his baby cousins Ayden (Chunk), Amari (Basket) and Liam (Yeeeam), that he occasionally cared for during the day.

Dwayne was a strong, humble man who truly loved the Lord. He inspired people everywhere to live life to the fullest and be all you can be. He honestly never had a bad thing to say about anyone and wanted the best for everyone. Despite the challenges and obstacles that came his way over the years he stayed strong and never gave up. His motto was “Im just happy to be here” and he definitely was.

Dwayne was preceded in death by his Mother, Vickie Miller Wilcox, Maternal Grandfather, Alsee Miller, and Paternal Grandparents Alphonza Sr. and Barbara Easley.

Dwayne is survived by his father Alphonza Jr., Grandmother Shirley C. Miller,  Brothers Jay (Danette) Saunders,  Alphonza (Lil Al) Easley, and Steven Jefferson.
