Loretto Memorial Chapel - LORETTO Obituary

Lexington 1947 – 2025

Dyanne Johnson passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on 9/2/25 in Lexington, AL at the age of 78 due to complications of Rheumatoid Arthritis.

“Mom” aka “Nanny” was preceded in death by her Husband of 55 years, Larry “Bo” Johnson, her parents, Boots and Dulus “Granny” Parker, her brother, Sammy (Darlene) Parker, and her niece Sheila Parker.

Mom is survived by her two sons Shannon and Jason (Christy) Johnson, her grandchildren; Mackenzy Johnson Herston (Graham), Bowen Johnson (Madison), her brother; B.H. Parker (Pat) and sisters Rose Gray and Barbara McGee (Larry). Along w/ many nieces and nephews. On the Parker side Phillip, Vance, Lawanda, Michelle, Ashley, Bradley, and Amanda. On the Johnson side Hurley, Eric, Lisa, Tara, Kelley, Jacob, Laura, Denise, Dianne, Gene, and Melissa.

Mom was born and grew up in the Antioch Community near Center Star. She learned everything from Granny. She learned to cook, sew, and garden in a big way. She was the middle child of 5 kids in a farm raised Christian family.

Mom married my Dad in 1965 and later had Shannon and myself. We were a small family, but a really close-knit Christian family. Mom and Dad built a house in Lexington and we grew up in the best life anyone could ever ask for. She raised us in church, rewarded us when needed, and definitely disciplined us when needed. She cared deeply for all of us and made sure we grew up in the Christian Faith with morals, love, and respect.

Mom always worked to help others. She started out her career at the Mental Health Center (Riverbend) before working at Lexington High School alongside Mr. Pat Brown and Mr. Alan Trimm along w/ many precious teachers, principals, and students before retiring to stay home w/ Dad, Shannon and her grandchildren.

Her family was her world. She took great care of my Dad, Brother, and Children throughout the years. Mom loved like no other. She was the sweetest Mom anyone could ever ask for. She was selfless and loved her Family and Friends. She will be missed greatly here on earth, but a I know she has special place in Heaven with Dad where the roses never fade.

The visitation and funeral will be at Loretto Memorial Chapel on 9/6/25. Visitation will be from 12 to 2 and the funeral will follow at 2 pm. Our Mom will be laid to rest by our Dad at Pettus Cemetery in Lexington, AL. Many thanks to all who have visited, called, provided meals and friendship over the years and during this time. We Love you All!
