TRICE, Dr. E. Randolph, 88, died on Sunday, January 16, 2011 at Westminster Canterbury, Richmond. Dr. Trice was born on June 8, 1922, the son of the late Dr. Ernest T. Trice and Evangeline P. Trice of Richmond. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia B. Trice. He is survived by his son, Wilson R. Trice and his wife, Ginger, of Richmond; his daughter, Mary Palmer Trice Legare and her husband, Andrew, of Byron, Ga.; his son, W. Cabell Trice of Richmond; brother, Dr. Robert P. Trice; and two grandchildren, Lile T. Benaicha (Robert) and Mary Mason Trice, all of Richmond. Dr. Trice was born in Richmond and attended St. Christopher's School. He graduated from Hampden-Sydney College and earned his M.D. degree at the Medical College of Virginia. After serving as a medical officer in U.S. Army hospitals in Germany and Japan, Dr. Trice established his practice in dermatology in Richmond. He was a clinical professor of dermatology at MCV, a former Vice-President of the Richmond Academy of Medicine, and former President of the Richmond Dermatological Society of Virginia. He was a prolific writer of medical literature, particularly on the subject of the history of medicine. He also published several papers and books of general historical interest. Dr. Trice was among the group of founders of The Richmond Symphony, and he served that organization as a board member and as president. He also presided over the Federated Arts Council of Richmond. He was a member and former vestryman of St. James's Episcopal Church. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 19, at St. James's Episcopal Church, 1205 W. Franklin Street. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. James's Endowment Fund or the Westminster Canterbury Foundation.
