In a Tilden Tech High School auto shop, the teacher broke the class up into small groups of four or five students; Colly and I were in the same group. Whenever the instructor wanted to get our group's attention, he would shout out across the shop "COLLYMORE". In many groups Earl was the leader or assumed to be the leader, because he would step up, speak out, take the lead.
