Not sure what to say?

I was journaling to a prompt about a favorite teacher, and Earl Cooney came to mind. I was in his high school class in 1980 ish. He really had an impact on me - I feel like he "got" me and believed in me. I learned so much in his class - he was open-minded and curious, and explained many ways to view things. He was joyful and I could tell he truly loved what he did. I came out to "the internet" and found this page. I´m sorry I couldn´t share with him in person that he made a difference in...

Mr. Cooney was my homeroom teacher all 4 years at West Leyden. I really enjoyed him , his wit, humor and " realness" RIP Best wishes to his family and friends.

To his family, I am sorry for your loss. Mr. Cooney was one of those teachers that everyone remembers and loved. His energy and enthusiasm made his class fun. His compassion for the students was remarkable and his love of tesching shined through. I had him for Contemporary Problems in 1982. He was an awesome teacher and a fantastic person.

Mr. Cooney was my math teacher during my freshman year. He was a great teacher. God bless you and your family.

RIP Mr. Cooney. My condolences to the family.

My favorite teacher at West Leyden. If all of my teachers would have been like Mr. Cooney, my academic career would have been very different. He made us think and I loved going to his class. It didn't feel like school. I am sorry for his family's loss. I hope your memories are a comfort.

Mr. Cooney was one of the most engaging and entertaining teachers and had you at the moment you hit your seat. He was dedicated to his profession, but also to the students he taught. In retrospect, the Contemporary Problems class he taught was delivered in such a progressive manner that it was beyond its time. With the passing of my own father my senior year, he had the utmost compassion and caring and gently guided me back into school and life. I remember his pipe was steadfastly...

Mr. Cooney was one of my favorite teachers; had him for American History, Contemporary Problems, and Social Studies Seminar. In addition to academics, learned a lot about life.

RIP Mr. Cooney. Have thought about your lessons many times over the years.
