Not sure what to say?

Just came across this. Mr.Corey was my Latin teacher in 1964-66 at West Hill. He was a splendid teacher. In Grade 11 I helped him make up Latin tests from Grade 10, a wonderful learning experience. Then I did 2 years of Latin at McGill, a graduate course in NY, and two years of Latin medieval paleography at U. de Montréal. I use it all the time in medieval music and ethnomusicology as a researcher and singer. Thanks, Mr Corey!!! You were so very good.

My sister, Susan, and I had moved with our family from Stratford, Ontario in 1960 and entered Grade 11 together at West Hill High School where Mr. Corey taught us Latin. He was a very thorough and detailed teacher with a good sense of humour!

I hope his health latterly was good and allowed him to enjoy life well into his senior years.

We join all those sending condolences to his family members.

Mr. Corey's passion for Latin made him a most memorable teacher. Decades after we graduated, his name still pops up in conversations. In a class reunion in 2003 the we had a wonderful time reminiscing about Mr. Corey, a teacher par excellance! Sincere sympathies to those close to him.

Earl was a good friend to us over the years. He will be missed by many old friends and family. Our sincerest sympathy goes out to Paul, Coila, Carol and families. We all have good memories to remember him by.

Sorry we can't be with you to "say goodbye" to Earl, but please know that you are all in our thoughts at this time.

In a lifetime one has the opportunity to meet and know someone special, and I have had the luck to have met and known Earl. He was truly a scholar and a gentleman. A very caring man who had a wonderful joie de vie and sense of humour. A warm and caring individual who loved to live his life to the fullest. My most heartfelt sympathies to you, Paul and all of Earl's family.

My sympathies to the family. Mr. Corey was my Class teacher in grade 9, West Hill, in 1955. He taught us Latin and French. He also taught us Latin in Grade 11. He was a good teacher, fair, with a wry sense of humor. Always meticulously dressed. I remember him as one of my best teachers.

Mr. Corey was my Latin teacher at West Hill High School in the late 1950s. I remember him as a great teacher with a wry sense of humour, always immaculately dressed, never using a simple word in translation when a more expressive one was available-e.g. "conflagration" rather than "fire." In 2000, we had a class reunion and tried unsuccessfully to locate him. It's too bad, we would have enjoyed seeing him again. My sympathies to his family.
