Looking back over the past 75 years I consider my high school years as the most formidable of my life. During those memorible years no one stands out in my mind more than Mr. Earl Hilyer as having a profound influence on my life. His advice and direction both as a teacher and coach remain with me to this day. He was admired and respected by all those who knew him. Earl Hilyer was the finest teacher I ever knew. Even as a very young man, he made Geometry, Algebra I and Agebra II wonderful classes. God bless him.

I will forever remember the kindness shown at school by Mr. Hilyer. He had just the right balance of discipline, kindness and humor. Years later, any time I saw him, I always remembered those times and his kindess. We are so blessed that he shared his life with so many. 1975 Fairhope High School graduate.

Earl was a joy to know.He was the kind of man who stood out in a time when we needed it.He will be truly missed by all who knew him,I know I will.

A wonderful teacher and a caring individual, Mr. Hilyer was a positive influence and role model for everyone with whom he came in contact. He will be sincerely missed.

Mr. Hilyer was my teacher and my football coach at Fairhope High School. He was also a lifelong friend who freely gave of himself to others. I can think of no other person in Baldwin County who was more loved than he. He will be missed by all.
