Earl L. Sjoquist

Earl L. Sjoquist, 90, of West Fargo, ND, died Tuesday, December 29, 2015, at Bethany on 42nd in Fargo. Earl LeRoy Sjoquist was born February 9, 1925 to Ernest and Clara (Tronson) Sjoquist at Grafton, ND. He attended Grafton Public Schools and one year at the University of North Dakota. Earl served in the US Army during WWII in the South Pacific. After his discharge from the war, he married Dolly Morwood in Portland, OR on November 14, 1946. Together they lived in various states. The majority of his working years were in the retail business as a buyer and merchandiser. He was most proud to complete twenty-five years at Wal-Mart at the age of 90 singing jingles as a greeter. After the death of his wife Dolly in 1995, he married Verna Fischer on November 17, 1999 at West Fargo, ND. He is survived by his wife Verna; son Jeffrey (Nina), ND; daughters: Peggi Jo (Alan) Starkey, MI; Debbie Ann (Brett) Jevne, ND; step-son Bruce (Maureen) Fischer, MN; step-daughter Laurie (Bryan) Olson, ND; brother, James, ND; nine grandchildren: Ross (Katie) Nilson, Jon (Michelle) Nilson, Reed (Elizabeth) Starkey, Jill (Cody) Pavlak, Sara (Nik) Thomalla, Lisa Chapin, Chad Fischer, Kristine Olson, and Kayla Olson; eight great grandchildren: Claire and Gabriella Nilson, Isaac Starkey, and July baby Thomalla, Emilia and Nolan Chapin, Adrian and Kingston Fischer. Special niece: Mary (Tonnes) Pollestad and nephew: Sidney Sjoquist. A sister-in-law Delores Carroll and her sons Grant (Janelle) Carroll and Scott (Debbie) Carroll; Verna's sister: Loretta Merkel and Dolly's half-sister: Ellen Stevens. Earl was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dolly, a sister Elizabeth and her husband, Vernon, a brother-in-law, Vincent Carroll, numerous step brother and sisters-in-law.
