Not sure what to say?

Earl was a great influence on my life. I told him so when I last saw him at a our 1961 Class reunion. He taught me perserverence. It has stood me well for the past 48 years.

Mr. Yost, as we in the Class of '61 always called him was so influential in my life. I remember him coming to CHHS as a young teacher out of G-burg to teach and coach football. He started the first wrestling team at Camp Hill back when the two high school powers were Mechanicsburg and Newport and we wrestled both in that first year. Typical Earl Yost, if you want to get better you work hard and challenge the best. I remember him as being tough, demanding, fair and a great mentor. He always...

For the Family of "Duke" Yost....

My deepest, sincerest apologies! Mr. Yost was one of my teachers while I attended Camp Hill. He made a tremendous impact on me, even though I did not actively participate in sports. He was an excellent mentor to me and will never be forgotten! He will be sorely missed!

The Duke was a man of honor, who took a young man who was very over weight and not very sure of himself and turned him into a good wrestler and made me proud of myself. My father thanked him for doing this for his son, it was something he could not do himself.

Dear Jane, Ed and I were very saddened to read of Earl's death in the paper. We often think and recall the wonderful adventures we had with the two of you. Our warm welcome to the Camp Hill Community and Camp Hill School District was a direct result of Earl's effort and kindness. He was great to teach with and an excellent mentor. I'm so sorry we did not have an opportunity to reconnect after the loss of our son, Steven. Maybe that could still be possible. Our sincere wishes of...

Very sorry to hear about the passing of Mr. Yost. I remember him very well, even though it's been over 40 years since I graduated Camp Hill High.
I participated in the first wrestling match at Camp Hill, I'll guess 1960. It was intramural. Mr. Yost was a "new" teacher and was introducing this new sport to the school. I graduated in 1964, never wrestled again after that first match, but I fondly remember the encouragement of Mr. Yost. I had him as a teacher, also, and always respected...

Coach Yost,

We can only hope to continue to build on the program you not only started but inspired. The heart and soul of CH Wrestling was Coach Yost and will continue on as such. You will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Thank you.

Warmest regards and condolences to Mrs.Yost, family, friends and teammates. “The Duke” invested a portion of himself into many young lives for which I am personally grateful to have been included. I have many good memories of those years. For the record, I still do the pushups and leg lifts with some hold time but the run is down to a leisurely walk.

Coach Earl Yost (aka ‘The Duke’) was the toughest, greatest coach I’ve ever known, in any sport.
He taught discipline, dedication, and perseverance like no one else could. Being coached by Coach Yost for three years is what gave me the mental and physical toughness to survive four years of the U.S. Air Force Academy in the mid 1970s. The outstanding impacts he had on so many of us will continue his legacy.
