VanARSDALE, EARNEST L. JR. "Lee" "Ernie" Of Fint, age 73, died Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Genesys Regional Medical Center. Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, August 31, 2015 at Swartz Funeral Home 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Harold K. Polk, Jr. officiating. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or D.A.V. Chapter 3. Visitation 3-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Earnest was born in Flint, Michigan on August 31, 1941 and was the son of Earnest and Irene (Jedynak) VanArsdale. He married Carol Baumgarner on April 26, 1968. He attended Flint Schools and graduated from Flint Northern High School. Earnest joined the U.S. Army in 1959 and served until September, 1963. He was a member of D.A.V. Chapter 3 in Burton and served on the Board of Veterans Services of Genesee County for several years, only stopping due to his health. Earnest worked for General Motors after leaving the service and retired on October 1, 1999 with 36 years of service. Following his retirement, he worked for the Swartz Creek Schools as a custodian from 2001 to 2005, and he only quit due to knee problems. Surviving are his wife, Carol; sons, Kevin and wife Teresa of Swartz Creek and Mike of California; daughter, Krystale VanArsdale of St. Petersburg, Florida; grandchildren, Kurt VanArsdale of the U.S. Marines, Steven VanArsdale of Swartz Creek, Kaylee and husband Austin Gentry of Tampa, Florida; light of his life, great-granddaughter, Alaiyah Gentry; 2 sisters, Alice and husband George Leoffler of Grand Blanc, Fran and husband Harland Moody of Swartz Creek; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bruce and wife Mary Lou Baumgarner, Max and wife Linda Couch, Jesse and wife Jenny Baumgarner; many nieces, nephews and extended in-laws in South Carolina.
