In your memory Ed, I don’t know where to begin. When you had the first spotter plane in Prince William Sound that I can remember, or when Jimmy Webber and I went with you on your boat to catch Kona crab in Hawaii, or the night in Eglik Bay when we rafted together and secured your plane in a big storm. Your example inspired me to do better and be the best I could be. You are a true legend and I’m sure that so many are wiser and stronger for having known you. See you in highliner heaven.

We are so glad to know that Ed is up in heaven swapping stories with our Dad, Max Wells. Oh. As a kid growing up in Valdez, a visit from Ed was always a memorable time. LOL Once Ed came after Christmas and tried out all of our new baby dolls to see which one would have the right squack to attract a seal. Another time he brought my Mom some chocolates....imagine her dismay when she told Ed how good they were, only to find out that they were chocolate covered ants! He ispart of the...

If you were around Prince William Sound in old days you knew Ed Bilderback and the Valiant Maid. Ed was one from the old school. Smooth sailing and calm seas Ed.

Ed was always one of my moms favorite. she always enjoyed his visit to her, here in Anchorage. my kids still remember our trip to Cordova to celebrate the 50th aniversary of the Valiant Maid.
