I saw Eddie at a club in Boston in 1982 or 83. Never seen a blues man electrify a crowd like he did. The man was pure magic. Rest in peace, brother.

God bless Eddie Kirkland, I played with him a few times; we would bring the crowd up when we played dueling harmonicas. His Manager and Producer was a good friend of mine, Gary Montgomery. Gary flew me down to Macon to play with Eddie and for the opening of the Music Hall Of Fame or inducting someone. I am trying to remember which. But I sure loved Eddie's playing, and Eddie loved mine. I always enjoyed seeing Eddie. God Bless Eddie; Eddie is a Legend.

Eddie has played gigs in Maine for many years. However, I only saw him perform once. He played in Farmington, Maine at my good friend Nancy's 60th birthday party. He was an incredible musician as well as an incredibly nice guy. During a 'break' I got to speak with him for several minutes. What a privilege that was for me! They just don't make men like that anymore! Play on, Eddie, play on!!

I first met Eddie back in 1969 during my initial trip to the South... may have been responsible for him taking up music again and not opening a car repair place! Our relationship lasted until that night on the highway on the 28th. Eddie was not only an artist I recorded and encouraged over the decades, but he was my friend (and they are in short supply).
Over the decades, I'd stay with him at his place, he stayed with me at mine up North. I last saw him about five years ago...

I recorded EDDIE KIRKLAND in 1963, a great blues singer. He will be missed.
