Edgar's passionate love affair with what is best about Judaism--its fierce focus on ethics, its embrace of the stranger, its emphasis on questions, and its historical celebration of rogues, rebels, and revolutionaries...awakened me to the beauty and truth of a tradition I was born into but never fully appreciated.

So thank you, dear Edgar, for making me and so many others aware of what is best about Judaism.

Wishing to convey my condolences to Sam and Edgar Jr. in my husband's name, Frederick Frankel, who passed away on Feb. 22, 2013. Fred worked for Sam and Edgar Jr at Seagrams' Classic Wines and only had the best words to say about the family and the company. We are indebted to the memorable help and assistance the family showed in Fred's medical disability and we share in the grief you must feel. I'm Barbara McGregor's sister Debbie. I know that Barb really loves you and your family. Over the years, she has told me, my mother and my sisters wonderful stories about you and Edgar. As a result, we feel we've gotten to know your family through "osmosis."
