To me and innumerable musicians, Ed Dixon was the overwelmingly generous host of the great jazz party of the year. He provided food and beverages to all his guests in a day-long jam session on a summer day in the back yard of his and Muriel's glorious Victorian home on Hazlett Street in Morristown. Ed knew everybody's name, and greeted everyone as a friend. He certainly was a friend, a friend of individuals and of music.
