I worked very closely with dear Edith in the Paraguay-Kansas Partners; enjoyed her company; shared a lot of activities together with her husband John Poertner in the social-cultural áreas; visited Pilar together; celebrated a new year's day at home; helped her to find a house to rent, where to transport her household goods. Edith was on the Affirmative Action Board when I was director of that program. Edith was a lovely women and I enjoyed working with her. As time passes, all the people who worked in the early days of Affirmative Action will be gone, but for now, I remember Edith fondly.
