Edith Dorley Obituary

Edith Ella Dorley, wife of Rev. Mike Dorley, mother and grandmother, died September 1st, 2025 at the Church of God home in Carlisle, Pa.

Born in Philadelphia on March 6th, 1942, she was the seventh of ten surviving children to Russell and Anna Witmyer. Raised partially in Germantown and then in Birdsboro, she was a 1961 graduate of Daniel Boone High. Where she met Mike Dorley. On a leave home from the navy, the two wed October 5th, 1963 and would remain together more than 60 years until their deaths, only months apart.

While raising her two children, they lived in numerous parts of Central and Southeast Pennsylvania (and Wisconsin) before settling in Cumberland could for the past 40 years. Mike was the pastor of several churches including for the First Church of God conference. Edie was by his side the whole way, while raising children and working in clerical jobs of her own. She is survived by Kim Weary and her husband, Brian as well as their two sons. Also her son, Jerry and his wife, Anna. She also leaves behind her beloved cat, Rosie, in the care of her oldest grandson.

Memorial will be held at Immanuel Christian Ministry Church at 800 S Market St on Thursday, September 11th at 4 p.m. The family will be receiving guests one hour before the start of the service.
