Edith Duhe

Edith Duhe passed away April 4, 2023, at the age of 96 from Alzheimer's. She was born in Frankfurt, Germany to Anton and Irma Kull. Edith was married to the late Julius "Cotton" Duhe for over 50 years. She is survived by her two children and spouses, Ronald Duhe (Patricia Marcomb) and Silvia Gallo (John). She was the proud grandmother of D'Ann, Johnny III, Christopher, Patrick, Ryan, the late Lindsey, and Jason. She also had 13 great grandchildren. Edith grew up in Frankfurt, Germany during World War II and met her husband, "Cotton", an American soldier, while working as a switchboard operator at the U.S consulate in Wiesbaden, Germany after the war. She then became an army wife living in El Paso, Texas, Kaiserslautern, Germany, and Fort Ord, California, before settling in Chalmette, LA in 1965 at the end of Cotton's military service. She loved her adopted country of the United States and was proud to become a citizen, but never lost her love for her native Germany. She was a great story teller and she loved sharing her adventures growing up in Germany and her travels while raising children as an Army wife. She loved her grandchildren, camping and gardening. Edith relocated to Slidell, LA following the loss of her home due to Hurricane Katrina. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Summerfield Retirement Community (Slidell) and Anderson Memory Care for their many years of caring for Edith. Their dedication and compassion helped ease her transition at the end of her life. We would also like to thank the staff of Passages Hospice for their kindness and care.
