Not sure what to say?

Around 1990 we met at a community action meeting. We marveled often over these decades, how compellingly and easily we became fast friends. We fell into the other´s orbit and enjoyed years of travel, adventures, long and deep conversations of culture, often laughing over disappointments in our species. I am grateful to have had the privilege of our most wonderful friendship. I shall treasure our friendship forever. She resides in my heart of hearts. A champion of the Good Fight, her...

Edith was always a part of my life and a huge presence in the lives of my Mom and siblings as well. She befriended my Mom and Dad at the Veteran's Housing apartments in Los Angeles because they both shared a German heritage and they were learning the ways of America together in those early years. That was before I was born, but from that day forward, Edith and her family were a constant presence in our family's life. The Goss Family and the Frankenbach/Martin family made homes near to one...

Our mother had a long life, both difficult and beautiful, full of light and darkness, a testament to the power of true friendship, and a model for selflessness in a world that seems to value these qualities less, even as it needs people like Edith even more. She will be missed as all absent mothers are, but all the more so because she was mine. I love you, mom. Stay gold.

"Tante Edith" was always so happy to see our family. As we piled out of our red VW bus, she would wait in front of her home to greet us, gently chuckling with pleasure. Soon she would say, "So, Annetty." She always made me feel special and I am very fortunate to have had her loving presence in my life from birth onward. Edith lives on in my heart and the hearts of all who knew her.

Dear Mom, I think about you and miss you every day. I'm so glad we had the time together this year, and that we were able to see each other often. You are in my heart forever! deine kleine Ekkalein.
