Edith C. Kimball, age 94, of Chapel Street in Union, NH, died on Friday, January 5, 2007 at Littleton Regional Hospital in Littleton, NH, after a brief illness.
She and her identical twin sister Edna were born on March 13, 1912 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, daughters of the late Walter and Catherine (Small) Harris. Edith was educated in the schools of Cambridge and was a graduate of Cambridge High and Latin School.
Edith was a homemaker, who, in early years, worked in the Harvard College Library and the New Hampshire State Library. In earlier years, she was a Girl Scout Leader, having achieved their highest award as an Eagle Girl Scout.
She was a lifelong resident of Union, NH, an active community member with a strong focus on the Union Congregational Church, Deaconess Emeritus,
supervisor of the Sunday School for many years and a member of the Woman's Fellowship.
She was an active member of Unity Chapter #21 Order of the Eastern Star and Reunion Grange #303 of Union.
Widow of the late George B. Kimball, who died in 1992, she is survived by her children: Janice Griffith Perles of Atlanta, GA, Catherine Lynne & husband Douglas Greene of Taunton, MA, Weston & wife Nancy Griffith, Sr. of Bethlehem, NH, 3 Grandchildren: Weston Griffith, Jr. & his wife Mary Robin, Heidi Stoddard & husband Francis and Maxwell Greene, 4 great grandchildren, a step-daughter: Virginia Wentworth of Union, 3 step grandchildren, 9 step great grandchildren and 12 step great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a granddaughter: Heather Lee Griffith, her twin sister: Edna and son in law: Richard Perles.
Calling hours are Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Peaslee Funeral Home, 24 Central Street in Farmington, NH. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at 11:00 am at the Union Congregational Church on Main Street in Union, NH with Rev. Kaye Bowles, pastor, officiating. Intermentwill follow at Plummers Cemetery . A reception will be held at the Wakefield Resource Center in Union, following the interment. If desired, memorial
