Time has passed. Events have happened, good and bad. The fact that our memories can block current events is both a blessing and maybe a curse.. i choose blessing as I hold dear my time with Mrs Rode while in high school. Edith welcomed me to Lewiston, Idaho in the 1980's, when I moved there to teach at Lewis-Clark State. She became my mentor and dear friend. Her spirited and unflinching approach to life's joys and challenges inspired my own personal growth. For the rest of her life, I looked forward to receiving letters from Edith, each one filled with rich descriptions of large and small issues, each one thought-provoking, touching, engaging and sometimes hilarious. I was a student at EPHS in the 60's and had Ms Rode as a teacher. The lessons she taught went far beyond the classroom. I am proud to say that she has been one of the greatest influences on my life. She will always have a prominent place among my memories.
