Not sure what to say?

I was a student at PHHS and had the privilege of having Mr.Heilmeier as my chemistry teacher, as did my sister. He was a demanding teacher, expecting excellence and hard work and he received it from his students. I was so proud to complete his class, I still have my chemistry notebook from 1975. Sincere sympathy to you and your family.

Ella,
I am so sorry to hear about Ed. I have such wonderful memories of times together when we were all younger! I remember meeting all of you at Myrtle Beach when Doug was in the navy- and how wonderful it was to be with family for a while. The two of you have always been wonderful Godparents to me and Ed will have a place in my heart always.
All my love-

Mr. Heilmeier was a respected and beloved chemistry teacher at PHS. I graduated in 1968 and was fortunate to have 2 classes with him. I am sorry for the death of a wonderful man.

I am so very sorry to hear of your very great loss. I had Mr Heilmeier as a chemistry teacher and was later lucky to know him as a friend. I remember so many camping trips to Myrtle Beach with our families. Ed was a wonderful man. The world is poorer for his having left it.

I graduated PHHS in 1972, and in those days it was not a very good or demanding high school. The one teacher, however, who motivated students toward excellence was EJ Heilmeier. I took two semesters with him after which I scored an 800 on my chemistry achievement test. I believe this allowed me entrance into an Ivy League school from which I moved on to medical school and a career as a physician. I had the satisfaction of telling EJ this when I last saw him in 1994, and of course he told...

Ella and family,
I am very sorry to hear of your loss. Ed was a fine man and Kenny and I enjoyed being your neighbors. I hope Ed and Kenny are now having the same great conversations they had as neighbors. Love, Anita Rothbart

I was lucky enough to have Mr. Heilmeier as my chemistry teacher 40 yrs ago! Although, I don't think he thought he was so lucky to have me as a student! No matter how he presented chemistry to me, it just didn't make sense. I stayed many afternoons at PHHS as he spoon fed chemistry to me with great patience until I was finally able to bring my grade up to a 'C'.

I have & always will remember Mr. Heilmeier fondly. He treated me with respect and didn't make me feel dumb for...
