The Joy of Shopping
Edmund McNally was in the market for a new car. He was thinking about a Volvo, but he wanted to be sure.
He read up on other options in the automobile magazines. He went to dealerships and drove some of the possibilities.
A BMW. A Mercedes. This research went on for a year. Finally, he knew the best car for him ‹ a Volvo.
Mr. McNally loved cars but he also loved shopping, so what difference did it make how long it took to buy something? He enjoyed the process.
In particular, he got a thrill out of finding the absolute best price.
"We had role reversal," said his wife, Liz. "I shop under pressure. He enjoyed shopping."
Mr. McNally, 40, a senior vice president and director of technology at Fiduciary Trust, lived in Fair Haven, N.J., with his wife and three children, Brienne, Erin and Shannon, and in a lot of ways he was an oversized child.
He relished playing tennis with his wife and going to the beach to ride his body board in the water with the children. Last year, the family took its first trip to Disney World.
"He went on all the rides and had the most fun of all," Mrs. McNally said.
The next thing he had his eye on was getting a sailboat.
"He was warming me up to getting one," Mrs. McNally said. "I think he had a ways to go. But he knew me. It took time, but he would get his way."
My name is Paul mc Nally. I'm from Ireland. I visited new york at Christmas 2022 & visited the 9/11 memorial. The exact spot I stopped at had Edmund mc Nally,s at it. I thought this a massive coincidence. I am curious if his family may be related to me

This message became long. What I want to say is Edmund is not forgotten and I think of him every day.
On the 10 year anniversary Forest Park in St. Louis, Missouri did a tribute to the people that died in the attacks on 9/11. They erected a 3x5 foot flag for every person that died that day. On each flag they had put a strip of paper memorializing a person. The attached pictures shows how the hill in front of the art museum was covered in flags. I spent many hours taking pictures of this...

Hello - I was recently in NYC for my first visit. I saw a white rose slotted in Edmund's name. As a complete stranger I wished him happy birthday and am so very glad that I can send condolences to his family. Never forget

Sept 10, 2001 was my first day as a British Airways reservationist. One of the first flights I booked was for a polite customer named Edmund McNally. It wasn't until weeks later when I checked the status of his tickets that I learned he would never take that trip. I am so sorry for your terrible loss.
