Edmund Swiacki Jr., co-owner of Swiacki Meats and Provisons in Port Richmond, lost his long battle with cancer on 2-11-2021. He died peacefully at home with his wife Cathy by his side.
Ed was born on October 4, 1945 in Philadelphia to Edmund and Virginia Swiacki. He was the oldest of three children. He attended Lasalle High School where he was a member of the track team. He continued his studies at Villanova University and then off to Temple for his Masters degree. After graduating he became a teacher in the Philadelphia school system. Ed was loved by his students and respected by his fellow teachers.
In 1953, Ed along with his brother Stan decided to follow in their father’s footsteps and took over the family business, Swaicki Meats.
In 1972 he married his wife Cathy and had 3 children Tosha, Melissa & Eddie. He was a devoted husband and father. He was dedicated to his children raising them with his same passion for athletics. Cheering them on on a soccer field or running along side of them training. He was so proud to see all three of his children graduate from his alma mater of Villanova University.
Over the years Ed created Swiacki Meats to be a business built and run by family and friends who felt like family. Ed could always be found in “the shop” coming out to greet customers as they waited to buy their traditional homemade polish favorites. Customers became friends. His wife Cathy worked by his side and his children grew up working along with him, but Ed was
happiest when it finally came time for his granddaughters to join him at Swiacki Meats. His son Eddie is continuing his legacy.
When he was not at work there was only one other place to find him...the gym. Ed was a competitive man with an affection for playing handball with his best buddies.
Ed Swiacki will always be remembered as a kind and generous man. He shared his success, advice and love with so many. He worked hard and played hard but what was most important to him was his family. Services will be held at a later date

To Kathy and his Children: I am truly saddened by this news and I am sorry for your loss. I have many fond memories of Ed He was always truly glad to see me as I was to see him. I was sorry that I couldn’t see him more often since moving out of the city. Take comfort in knowing how much he was loved by many. Rest peacefully, my friend. ❤
