On Monday May 18th at 10AM at the age of 98, Edna Elmina (McDaniel) Beauchamp passed away peacefully in her home. Her five loving daughters surrounded her as they had attended her during a brief illness.

Edna was born to Edward and Gertrude (Godwin) McDaniel on February 27th 1917 in Jonesboro, Arkansas. In January of 1929 Gertrude and the three youngest children (James, Edna and Nathan) moved to Flint, Michigan. Edward would soon follow with daughter Alice. Daughter Orena and husband Charles Mabry had already moved to Flint. Edna attended Flint schools, starting out at Clark elementary, then Whittier Junior High. She graduated from Flint Central in 1936. Edna then attended and graduated from Baker Secretarial School. She was hired by General Motors to work in their offices. In April of 1939 she married Arthur L. Beauchamp also from Arkansas. Arthur had graduated from Arkansas A&M College at Monticello, and had come to Flint hearing there was great opportunity. Both remained avid Flint supporters all their lives. They would have five daughters Margaret B. (Basil) Hart, Karolatta B. Heath, Sandra Fay B.(Gary) Cooper, Sally B. (Rick) Kagerer and Susan B. (Mark) Phipps.

Arthur and Edna would go into business founding Art Beauchamp Sporting Goods and Hardware. The business would continue after Arthur?s death in 1981 under the helm of Edna and her daughter Sally.

A woman of many talents Edna never ceased to work for the success of her husband and five daughters. She was just as enthusiastic about her grand children and great grand children. Jeffery (Lynn) Cooper and their children Hanna, Emily and Michael. Adam (Angie) Cooper and their boys Garren, Connor, and Owen. Marvin Hart. Susan (Dale) Ellis and their daughter Jordan with daughter Sydney soon to join us. Alan Heath. Ariana (Brian) Hemmerline and daughter Amelia with son Lucas soon to join us. Natalia Phipps.

Edna dedicated her life to being a devoted Christian and has been a life long member of the Church of Christ. Not sure what to say?

It is hard to realize that Edna passed away four years ago. My parents Ted & Bessie Taylor admired her, loved her and Art and before they passed they still mentioned how much they cared for your parents. I attended Bristol Rd. CofC before my Dad became the song leader at Grand Blanc Church of Christ. They are gone as is my oldest sister Dorothy Lee Marston, Glen Taylor, and Ethelene Taylor. Many fond memories of your Mom remain. In Christian Love, Norma Jean Taylor Pippin.

In loving memory of a wonderful person. We will love you and miss you always.

So sorry for your loss. Gregg and Mary Griswold, Bill and Francis Griswold, Jill and Jerry Lyons

Sandy Cooper---so sorry to read about your mother's death. What a beautiful woman through and through...sounds like her daughters are just like her. My love and sympathy at this difficult time.

I am so sorry for your loss. Edna was always so kind to me and my family. God bless you all!

I am so sorry about the passing of your mother. She was a wonderful person. Edna and Alice befriended me a few years back and I will always remember them. They reminded me of my grandmother, Kind and caring. I will miss her. I am heartbroken because I didn't know she had passed on.....

My mom and Mae Beaven were friends since Jonesboro high school. She held me when I was in diapers. I remember her visits and trips to the store and these wonderful kind people. Mom lived to be 90 and passed in December 2009. I know they are singing hymns in heaven.God bless your family.

We are so sorry that we did not attend the celebration of Edna's life today. We just found out and we are so very sorry for your loss. Edna was an amazing woman of God. We are grateful that we knew her and enjoyed her smile. God be with you
