Edna V. Elder

ELDER, Edna V. - Of Grand Blanc, age 94, died Saturday, February 15, 2003 at IHS of Michigan at Riverbend. Funeral service will be held at 11:30AM Tuesday, February 18, 2003 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend William C. McMillen officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mrs. Elder's name to First General Baptist Church. Visitation 11AM-2PM and 4-8PM Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Elder was born in Clarkton, Missouri on February 2, 1909 and was a resident of the Flint area most of her life. She was a member of First General Baptist Church. She was also a member of UAW Local #651. Mrs. Elder was employed by AC Spark Plug Division for 32 years, retiring in 1968. Surviving are son, B. DeWayne and wife Connie of Grand Blanc; grandson, David and wife Anna Smith; 2 great-grandsons, David and Daniel Smith; 2 sisters-in-law, Ethet Hutchison of Flint and Mattie Calhoun of Ashdown, Arkansas; brother-in-law, Billy and wife Peggy Elder of Ashdown, Arkansas; several nieces, nephews and many caring friends of DeWayne and Connie for their concern and care of Edna. She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy S. Elder, in 1991; 4 brothers, Lawrence, Alvin, James and Flint Hutchison; sister, Hazel Hightower. The family wishes to thank the nursing staff, Terry, Marlene and Barb on first shift; Virginia and Dave on second shift on the Ambassador Wing at IHS Riverbend. A special thank you to the hospice nurses who took care of Edna and to Sue Brady and Marty Anderson for their thoughtfulness and visits given to Edna.
