HOPE, Mrs. Edna Bates, 85, of Crozier, Va., departed this life on January 7, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband, James. H.; and son, James R. Hope. She leaves to cherish her memory six sons, Ronald (Laverne), Alan (Janet), Elliotte (Brenda), Malcolm (Cyndy), Eric (Sabrina) and Everette Hope; two daughters, Angela Allen (Wayne) and Thelma Glymph; 19 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Jeanne Bates, Esther Ross (Winston) and Beatrice Shelton (William); two brothers-in-law, four sisters-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Her remains rest at the Robert Mealy Funeral Home, Goochland, Va., where the family will receive friends and relatives Friday, January 11, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held 12 noon Saturday, January 12, 2013, at Jerusalem Baptist Church, 994 Three Chopt Rd., Manakin, Va. 23103. Pastor Emanuel C. Harris officiating.

I love you edna Hope and i miss you all life. you are the best lady life . you get money for hair happy all day. I miss my father alll life.

I knew you through Nicole as "Granny" and will never forget the day spent with you and the family. What an honor to have met you. The family will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers as they heal from this loss.

I only met Edna at Cindy and Mac's wedding. Wonderful woman. Did a great job of teaching and raising her children
