TRAVERSE CITY — Edna Marie Kennedy, 94, of Traverse City, died peacefully on Feb. 17, 2007. Toward the end, she lifted her hands towards Heaven exclaiming, "beautiful," and then went peacefully to sleep. Her comfort was in Jesus and we know we will have a reunion with her some day.

Edna was the daughter of Lance and Esther Neff of Charlevoix, as well as two brothers, Gordon and Bob Neff, who preceded her in death.

She attended Lewis/Chapin School of Business and Detroit Business College.

She was in on the 'ground floor,' establishment of the Michigan Child Guidance Clinic at it's inception.

She met and married her husband, Basil in 1941.

Surviving are her children, Lance (Kathy) Kennedy of Lake Orion, Janice Kennedy Verhage of Traverse City and Bruce Kennedy of Wetmore.

She retired from Munson Medical Center, Medical Records Department, after many years.

She enjoyed reading and stamp collecting, as well as many other interests. Edna made receiving blankets for our babies, lap robes for charity and was one of the original 'scrap-bookers.'

She loved people and had a big heart for those who were overlooked or ignored, inviting them over for a meal or a visit. She adored all of her grandchildren, spending quality time with them making cookies and fudge, and always had a 'treat.'

In the retirement years, she traveled with her husband and enjoyed trips out west, to Canada and around the United States.

A memorial service will be held at their home church, Bethlehem Lutheran, on June 10.

Memorials may be directed to Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Traverse City.

The Bible teaches in Psalms 116:15, "Precious in the sight of the Lord, is the death of his Saints..."

This obituary was originally published in the Record-Eagle.

Not sure what to say?

Wow! how we rejoice that Mrs. Kennedy had an Heavenly experience just before she went Home! It is our prayer that all who heard and read that report know Jesus or will seek him while He can still be found. Praise God!

Lance and Kathy--I'm not in the habit of checking these things but Judy was checking them due to the fact that Dad died the 29th of Jan and his obituary was posted on the 10th. While I never knew your mother I'm sure that she will be missed and I feel for your loss. Hope top see you both in September. Love Tom and Melinda
