PITTS, Edna Rae Slade, "Slade", 76, of Goochland, passed away June 13, 2008. She was born on June 23, 1931 in Dendron, Va. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edna Whitmore and Robert J. Slade; her husband, Charles S. Pitts; her brothers, Robert J. Slade Jr. and Kenneth J. Slade; and her sister, Mary S. Price. She is survived by three sons, Charles M. Pitts, Robert Terry Pitts (Betsy), and David R. Pitts; three grandchildren, Courtney Kane (Ben), and Natalie and Tony Pitts; and numerous other devoted relatives and friends. Slade grew up in Surry County, and was a graduate of Johnston-Willis Hospital School of Nursing, in Richmond. She married in 1951, worked as a private duty nurse, and was a member of Corinth United Methodist Church. Her tremendous caring for all, her devotion to her family, has imprinted her memory upon the hearts and minds of those who knew her. Her remains rest at Norman Funeral Home, Goochland, Va., where the family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 16, 2008, at Greenwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Goochland County Company 5, Fire-Rescue, P.O. Box 265, Goochland, Virginia 23063.
