Peppler Funeral Home - Allentown Obituary

Edna T. Walton, 90, of Hamilton, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at Serenity Hospice in Hamilton. Born in Allentown, NJ, Edna was a graduate of Allentown High School and earned her nursing degree from Fitkin Memorial Hospital in Neptune, NJ (now Jersey Shore Medical Center). She worked as an LPN for several years prior to going into private duty nursing. She retired in 1973 from Princeton Hospital where she worked in the Radiology department. After her retirement from nursing, Edna went on to get her real estate license and worked for Frank Mancuso Real Estate in Pennington. At this time, she also got her bus driver’s license and worked as a school bus driver for the Hopewell Valley Regional School District for over 20 years.


Edna loved staying active and was a member of the Hamilton Seniors and the Nottingham Senior Squares and attended the Allentown High School 50+ Reunions. She also enjoyed traveling with friends, especially trips to Europe.


Daughter of the late Rachel and Gordon Tantum Sr., she was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Harry K. Walton. She was also predeceased by her brother, Gordon Tantum and her son-in-law, Joe Lahovich. Edna is survived by her children, H. Kendall Walton, Jr., Bette-Jean (BJ) Lahovich, George Walton, and G. Thomas Walton and his wife, Jennifer; her grandchildren, Andrew Lahovich and his wife Elysa, Stephen Lahovich and his wife Jessica, Zachary Walton, Brie Henshaw and her husband Justin, Garth Walton and his wife Lauren, Alexandria Hurd and her husband Dale, and Helena Walton; her great grandchildren, Brantley, Paisley, and Kinsley Walton, Madison and Emerson Henshaw, Jace and Aubrey Lahovich, and Harrison Lahovich; her sister-in-law, Linda Tantum; her nephew and family, Jeffrey and Vanessa Tantum and their son, Owen, as well as many extended family and dear friends. 


Edna’s family would like to express their appreciation to the devoted staff of Serenity Hospice for the outstanding care provided to their mother.


A visitation will be held Sunday, February 2nd from 12-1:30pm with a funeral service to begin at 1:30pm at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St. Allentown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Edna’s name to St. Mark United Methodist Church, 465 Paxson Ave., Hamilton, NJ 08690 or at www.saintmarkhamilton.org

Edna and I were in school together. We always sat together on the school bus. It was great seeing her at the class reunions. No matter how she felt, sometimes not so great she was always there. So many memories.Rest in peace, dear friend.
