A Name to Carry On
People at his memorial Mass last week kept using the same words over and over about Teddy Maloney. Loyal. Modest. Magic with kids. A true friend.

At 32, Mr. Maloney was the kind of young husband who called his wife, Brinley, three or four times a day, especially since she was seven months pregnant with their second child - another girl, they had learned. He had already made his morning call home to Darien, Conn., at 8:40 that Tuesday from the TradeSpark offices of Cantor Fitzgerald on the 104th floor, just minutes before the attack.

"I'm not sure he liked his work that much," his mother, Sally Maloney, recalled. "If he had had his way, he would have opened a string of carwashes. He always wanted to be in control of his own business."

And to be closer to home and his extended family, the girls' hockey and lacrosse teams he coached. He took the job in the city only because Cantor Fitzgerald had promised a transfer to the Darien office in February, just after the baby's arrival. Her name will be Teddy Bray Maloney.

Not sure what to say?

Happy Birthday!

My husband Peter, my daughter Jasmine and myself , visited Ground Zero memorial in August this year 2018. I stood looking at all the names surrounding the waterfall and I wanted to pick one name that I would always remember. My dad's name was Edward Francis and my brother also has the same name so Edward Francis Maloney had a significant meaning to me. My dad was also always known as Teddy. We are so sad for your loss and wanted you to know that we will always remember your Edward...

Hi, my name is Emma. My history teacher told me to do an assignment that involved picking a American that died in 9/11. I wasn't real happy about it at first and then I realized that these people and there families went through more than I ever will. I am happy to say I picked EDWARD FRANCIS "TEDDY" MALONEY III. Thank you Teddy for being a leader for me.

In memory
With Honor & Respect.

We miss you dearly Teddy, but your light stays bright..

I was working in NYC on that fateful day. Approximately 2 weeks after September 11th, where I was working at JP Morgan on Park Ave., I found a memorial card with Teddy's picture on it in the foyer.
I never met Teddy but as a life-long New Yorker, who lost so many on that day, I added Teddy to my daily prayers and memories.
After September 11th I joined the United Nations and have been serving, in the name of peace, for the past 12 years.
Today, as on every September 11th I think...

My thoughts are with the entire Maloney family on this 10 year anniversary. I am so sorry for your loss! Teddy and I went to college together, he was one of the warmest people I have ever known. He loved his family and friends and we are all lucky to have had Teddy in our lives and memories. Let the fond memories of Teddy get us through the hard times and his children's laughter bring him back to our hearts.

Dear Maloney Family,

one week after 911 there was a memorial held for the victims here in key largo. We were given a glow stick with a name which mine was Edward Francis Maloney "Teddy". We did not know him but every year we remember him by hanging his name (glow stick) on our Xmas tree . On this 10th anniversary our hearts go out to you but he will always be remembered in our home.
