DERBY: Edward M. Baclawski, age 34, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Saturday afternoon, November 23, 2019, at Griffin Hospital, with his loving family by his side, following a short illness.

Edward was born in New Haven on June 18, 1985, beloved son of Edward L. and Marguerite Coppola Baclawski of Derby. A lifelong resident of the Derby community, he graduated from Derby High School and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of New Haven. He was employed as a Public Safety Officer at Fairfield University for nine years. He served as Chief of the Lake Housatonic Authority Lake Patrol and was an Emergency Medical Technician in Derby and Fairfield. He was a member of East End Hose Co. #3 and Storm Ambulance Corp. in Derby. Ed always helped others in need, enjoyed hiking and was a railroad “rail fan”.

In addition to his parents Edward and Marguerite, he leaves to cherish his memory, a sister, Christina Baclawski of Derby, maternal grandmother, Dolores Maturo Coppola of Derby and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday December 1, 2019, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Monday December 2, 2019, relatives and friends are asked to meet directly at 10:00 am at Holy Rosary Church, 10 Father Salemi Drive in Ansonia for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will immediately follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ed’s memory may be made to Storm Ambulance Corp., 151 Olivia Street, Derby, CT 06418. Not sure what to say?

Oh my dear Marguerite, Ed and Christina, Andrew, Jonathan and I are so very sorry for your loss. Its been over 20 years since we left Connecticut but you were never forgotten. Eddy was truly a very sweet, generous and kind boy and I see that he turned out into a wonderful, selfless, respected and caring man. God rest his soul and may eternal light shine upon him. Please email me when you want to and I will respond with my phone number so we can talk. Blessings, Olga

Marguerite, its Olga, I am so deeply sorry for such loss. Eddie was a very loving, sweet and caring boy back when we were living in Seymour, and became a wonderful man. My condolences to all of you

To the Baclawski family and Ed's extended family at Fairfield University's Department of Public Safety, we send our deepest condolences.

Ed was such a positive influence on others. He cared deeply about the well-being of the community and took his service seriously. Im going to miss working with Ed and seeing kindness in action.

So sorry for your loss Ed. I remember how excited you were to be a father when Edward was born. You and Marguerite were beside yourselves with joy. You both took time off from being busy parents to attend our wedding in October that year and for that we were grateful. I can only imagine your pain now. You and Marguerite are in our thoughts and prayers.

My wife and I would like to extend our most sincere condolences to the Baclawski family. Having lost our 23 year old son 11 years ago, we completely understand your grief. I am an ND classmate of Edward and wanted to reach out. There truly are no words that can ease your pain at this time except to say that there is no other time in your lives when the love of family and your belief in God is more important. May your son Edward rest in peace.

My deepest sympathy to all of you so affected by this sudden news. I can only imagine the pain you must be in. Christina, you know our door is ALWAYS open to you. Please stop over anytime. We love you sweetheart..you have lost someone very special...

Deepest sympathy to the Baclawski Family. Were truly shocked & saddened to hear this tragic news. Ed worked for us, pumping gas, all through high school & college. Easiest recommendation letter Ive ever written. I used to tell him they broke the mold after you Eddie. Of course he stayed in touch. Youll be forever in our hearts Ed.
Sincerely, Richie, Rick, Kristie, Mary & all your friends at Riverview Super Service

Dear Ed and family, My deepest sympathies in the loss of your son. Unfortunately I will be out of town and unable to pay my respects in person, but want you to know my thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult. May he rest in peace. Sincerely, Maria
