Every afternoon from the mid 1970's forward, "Mr. Barnes" walked to Breton Village to buy fresh meat for his wife to cook for dinner. On the way home passing by my house on Breton Rd., he'd watch for my two young daughters and stop and chat with them about school, being good, study hard and a reminder to mind their mother then give them a piece of candy or a penny from his pocket and be on his way. This kind and gentle man will always be remembered with tender affection.
