Edward Bart

Groton - Edward Bart, 89 of 380 Tyler Ave., Groton passed away Monday morning, Dec. 8, 2008, at Fairview in Groton.

He was born in Northampton, Mass., June 15, 1919, the son of Charles and Margaret Bart. He married Lillian Moriarty on May 1, 1943, in Holyoke, Mass.

Ed was an avid fisherman and loved camping and nature.

Edward had worked as a tool maker at Atlas Copco/Worthington in Holyoke until his retirement.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Julie Jones and her husband K.C. of Groton and Katherine Dunphy and her husband, Bill of New York City; two grandchildren, Kenneth Jones and his wife, Tami of Groton and Christopher Jones of North Grafton, Mass.; three great-grandchildren, Stefan, Corey and Derek Jones; a sister in law, Catherine Dennehy of Groton; and a god son, Neil Dennehy.

Interment in Colonel Ledyard Cemetery will be private. A gathering is planned for Saturday, Dec. 20, at 1 p.m. at the home of K.C. and Julie Jones.

Byles-Groton Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements.
