Mr. Burke was my childhood neighbor in Belleville, but he was like extended family later in life. He'd always wave from the front porch and call me over to talk about the Yankees or Syracuse. If I stopped by during the summer to visit my parents or during one of his marathon Christmas Eve dinners, he'd always offer a Heineken and a few stories. I had the great fortune of attending his acceptance dinner for Kearny's Irishman of the Year award a few years back and every time someone came over...
