My condolences to Kate and the rest of Ed's family - I'm so sorry to hear about his passing. Ed always met me with a smile and genuinely wanted to know the answer when he asked how I was doing. He usually had something thoughtful or funny to say - and more often than not, both thoughtful and funny. I'll miss him.
