Not sure what to say?

Ellen, I was deeply saddened to hear of Ed's passing. I worked with him as Portugal Desk Officer and Deputy Director for Brazil and Southern Cone. He was a wonderful boss, fun to be around, and he undoubtedly helped me with some of the finest reviewing statements I received in my career. The obit described his personality wonderfully. It sounds like you continued to have a rich life together after the Foreign Service, and I wish you all the best. Ed will be deeply missed.

Deepest condolences to Ellen, Caroline and Clare on this special day. May his memory be a blessing.

Ed had an unconditional love and admiration for the very special women who completed his existence on this journey-his mom aunt Gert (and dad Uncle Ed )~ exceptional daughters Caroline and Claire - and Most of all his incredible wife Ellen who´s been so loving and supportive by his side for 50+ years. Savor the memories

My sincere condolences to my dear friend, Ellen and her lovely daughters. I just heard from Gail today of Edward's passing. My heart is with you and am sending warm hugs to you as well. May Edward's memory live on through all of you. Peace be with you.

Ed was widely recognized as an "all `round good guy" known for his even temper and high competence. He was an outstanding example of the Foreign Service Officer and will be sorely missed.

Ed was one of my longest term Foreign Service Officer colleagues, dating back to our working together around 1968-69 in the economic section of the U.S. Embassy in San Jose. Costa Rica around 1968-69. The difference was Ed was an accomplished economist and I had taken the job in order to get some background in economics. Ed was characteristically generous in helping me learn the ropes. Ed went on to have a terrific multifaceted career. Near the end of both our careers I reported to him when...

Thank you for everything. One day older than me. And wiser. You helped me much and were so much fun. Lucky to have bern a friend

Ed Casey was one of my longest term Foreign Service Officer colleagues, dating back to our serving together in the economic section of the U.S. Embassy in San Jose. Costa Rica 1967-69 (approx.) The difference was that Ed was already an experienced economist whereas I had requested the job to get some first-time on the job training. I was always grateful to Ed for hiis generous support in the learning process. He went on to a brilliant, multifaceted career, and near the end of both of our...

Ed was a wonderful man. It was a great pleasure to work with him. His thoughtfulness, ability, energy, and enthusiasm---all were his outstanding traits. He will be greatly missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing him. My deepest condolences to Ellen and his family. Sincerely, Carla Hills
