Not sure what to say?

I remember Ed standing in his fields, when we walked down the lane. He always had I nice word to say and he made me laugh. I loved talking with him about Europe and I was impressed by his knowledge. Dear Carol, Bruce and Laura I am thinking of you! Wish you all the best in those hard days. Eva from Switzerland

I just got informed about the sad happenings by my hostmom. I stayed 10 months in the parsonage of Windsor Mill Rd. in 1995/1996 and I have had such a good contact with the Chesley's. I remember teasing Ed but I got a lot of good memories of the tasty veggies and good and happy moments with them. I wish Carol, Bruce and Laura a lot of strength for this hard time. Love Mareike

When we moved to Windsor Mill Ed and Joan and Carol and Bruce became our friends as well as our neighbors. I will always remember Ed out in his cornfield or on his tractor, bringing us fresh corn that he had just harvested and telling me that this was the best way to have good corn, straight from the field. Although we have moved to WV we will miss knowing Ed is in the world. The world is a better place because he was in it.

Having grown up virutally next door to the Chesley's I remember Mr. Ed as the only person who could grow sweet corn because no one else's could stand up against his! It was the highlight of my summers to be able to go to the stand at the end of Salem Rd. and buy veggies and corn from Carol. Nor will I forget his big voice and teasing ways! Our prayers are with you all!

I have many wonderful memories of Ed, particularly all the wonderful fresh vegetables he gave me for dinner for those 4 years I lived in the parsonage. I also remember him speaking Polish to Jana, and Eva buying the overalls at the flea market so she could "help" Ed around the farm. He loved his family and his Lion's club, and always had a smile and a funny story for me. I'm so glad I knew him. Blessings to you, Carol, Bruce and Laura, in this time of sadness and loss. Love, Gayle Annis-Forder

Carol, I hope you find consolation in the fact that you were the best daughter ever for many many years. You made your parents happy and proud. They were lovely people. Your Dad was a character and Woodlawn isn't the same without him.

My earliest memories include my Pop-Pop because he was always working around the farm where I grew up. Although he lived in the rancher up the road, he was always at our house (which, of course, was where he lived from 1950 until the early 1980s)- riding on the tractor or the backhoe, at the pump filling up a bucket with water, in the garden planting corn or squash or tomatoes, at our table for dinner. Although his dry humor sometimes scared me when I was a little girl, I know he only meant it to be good natured and it was his wit and charm that made so many people love him.
He was always around and although he has gone from the Earth, I still feel his presence everywhere on the farm and I know he's there with us. He gave us so much and asked for so little in return.
I love you, Pop-Pop. Give Mom-Mom a hug for me while you're up there dancing a polka.

This is a photo of me and Pop-Pop before my wedding in July
