Adobe Creek Funeral Home - Petaluma Obituary

Edward Louis DeRosis, age 69, of San Rafael, California, passed away on January 2nd  2024,  after a year-long battle with liver cancer.

Ed was born on July 29, 1954 to Louis Edward DeRosis and Helen Pisciotta DeRosis in Brooklyn, New York and grew up in Riverdale in The Bronx. After graduating from Riverdale Country School in 1972, he went on to study pre-med at Johns Hopkins University. He then attended medical school at New York University and did his residency at St. Mary’s Medical Center in San Francisco specializing in psychiatry. He built a successful private practice in Marin County, California, in which he applied a wholistic approach to helping his patients.

Ed was an avid boater, having spent summers as a child on the Long Island shore. He was also a bicycle enthusiast and enjoyed hiking and camping. He was a generous and caring person with a natural ability to put people at ease. He was willing to give his time and attention to those others would pass by. Among his most fondly remembered characteristics is his sense of humor. His playful nature made him popular with children. Hence, he was loved by all who knew him. Later in life his interests expanded to a variety of meditation practices and spiritual pursuits.

Ed is survived by his life partner Jennine Lanouette, his daughter Danielle DeRosis Gonzales, son-in-law Zac Gonzales and grandchildren Gabriel, Mateo and Esai, as well as his sister Heloise Morgan, brother-in-law Seth Morgan and niece and nephew Holly Morgan and Seth Edward Morgan.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Love Is the Answer (LITA), an organization of volunteers enriching the lives of seniors, by visiting www.litamarin.org
