I knew Duke and Dottie from my time as a CNA at the Ballard Landmark. A a flustered kid working her first real job their kindness was such a relief. My first week Duke tried to slip a tip into my clipboard, which I returned but the kindness stayed with me. Reading Ed's obituary this morning, I realized that Ed and my father, John J Lenihan, were both pilots in the 57th Fighter Group during WWII. Ed was in the 65th Squadron, and my Dad was in the 64th Squadron. Both squadrons were normally at the same base at the same time. Furthermore, my Dad, like Ed, retired as a Colonel, and they both had assignments at the Pentagon and Colorado. I would suspect they may have known each other.
