Being newer to the area and local GIS community, it did not take long before I knew of Fred. I wish I could have had more time to get to know him. He will be missed by many, but will not be forgotten as the value of his contribution to the community will endure.

Ed was a great guy who cared about his coworkers. Being a Union Shop steward he was involved in making sure we all got a fair shake when it came to the work place. Not once in the many years of working with Ed did he not have a smile on his face when I saw him walking around. He was a positive influence where ever he went. He will be greatly missed. It was truly an honor to get to know Ed. I will miss you and your smile.
