A great guy who always had an opinion on everything and was not easily persuaded. He was adamant that his grandson, Josh Howard, was a better ball player than Joe Mauer. The last few years were difficult for him regarding being separated from the love of his life, Ann. Listening to him talk to her on the phone was like listening to a teenage boy in love. So sorry to hear of Ed's passing. I have many fond memories of Ed who I remember as a super nice guy.

Ann,

You have my deepest sympathy on the death of your Dad. I only met him one time at your birthday party when we were in the eighth grade. He seemed real happy with a big smile on his face when he looked at you.

As the chapters of my life are being recalled, memories of Uncle Ed, his snappy attitude and saying things that were straight and true has stuck with me. He always seemed to get along with everybody and was always a welcome addition to Votel family events and activities. That in itself is a great memory. He was always nice to me and my family.
