Not sure what to say?

My parents told me that if the 11th Airborne didn't surprise the Japanese as they did on Feb. 4, 1945 and liberated our coastal town of Las Piñas, Luzon Philippines, I wouldn't even be here.
Then there are the 2,147 civilian internees in Los Baños, rescued by the 11th Airborne on Feb. 24, 1945.
Some of the towns inland like Lipa, Batangas were not so lucky.
We are forever in your debt. God bless you all and all your loved ones.
Rest in eternal Peace.

My father, Everett Smith, served in HQ Co/187th/11th Airborne Division on Gen. Swing's service staff, which I honor on my website, Pacific Paratrooper. I am also a member of the Association # 4511. General Flanagan was kind enough to call me twice (once on Christmas Eve!!) after I told him I was using his books as main resource for information.
I know words do not fill the void you are feeling, but I wanted you to know how much the General meant to so many of us, the children of the 11th.

Just found out about General Fly's passing. What an amazing life and amazing human being. Many fond memories of tennis at RPCC and the white scooter. Few men have walked through this life with as much integrity and devotion to God, family and country.

We always enjoyed being with Peg and Fly at church events. Their lives are a true inspiration for all of us who aspire to the good Christian way of living. God speed and one last oorah!
