Not sure what to say?

Ed was great. My favorite teacher of all time and I will never forget "Born of Man and Woman". And of course, the gerunds. After my family moved from Chagrin to Arizona, I kept up a long-time correspondence with Ed.

RIP Ed Gardner - you were one of my all time favorite teacher as you loved your subject and were passionate about communication with your students. I will say ditto as a coach. I was privileged to have you twice - 8th grade and JV. I know I am not alone when I say that you installed maximum confidence and love of the game. It was always fun to warm up jogging around the floor while you drained jump shots - inspirational! Thanks Coach! Mike

Bob, Allison, and Jason sorry to see the passing of your dad. Thought and prayers to you all

I had Mr. Gardner when he taught at Austintown Fitch. I have a scrapbook with a picture of him and underneath it and I wrote, “Best Teacher Ever!” Imagine my surprise when years later, at a parent teacher conference in Chagrin Falls for our son, Todd, there stood the same Mr. Gardner that I had! We were doubly blessed to have him as our teacher!
Sincere sympathy to the family,
Ruth Hall

I was fortunate to teach next door to Ed for a year at CFMS. He was an excellent grammar teacher. He was organized and expected his students to work. He had a great sense of humor. I enjoyed talking with him about Chagrin Falls history and basketball. My best to his family.

I transferred to CFMS in October of my 8th grade year from a city school in central Ohio. Jumping in mid year was rough for me. But I was thankful to have been placed in his English class. He pushed me to have high expectations for myself and never gave up on explaining explaining gerunds and participles until he was probably blue in the face. But he never gave up on me. For that I am forever thankful.
Mr. Gardner made English both challenging and fun for this new kid, and I’ve never...

I loved having Mr Gardner for 8th grade English in 1971! Fond memories of his class all these years later... my sympathies to his family.

Great teacher. I’ll repost the story I shared on FB.
March 10, 2021-
I just told the following story to my sister earlier today only to find out later that he had passed. In seventh grade English class Mr. Gardner was doing attendance rollcall and he got to a classmate by the name of Robin Muller. He read her name and then said, “Chirp”. He continued on and when he got to the next Robin it was Robin Ryan he said, “chirp chirp”. Everybody laughed. He continued to tell everyone that...

I know this will sound weird but he had the best set of choppers! He was such a warm loving teacher. So blessed to have had him as one of mine.
