Not sure what to say?

Correction to my earlier comments: I was not Edward George Jr.'s aunt; we were first cousins. His mother and my father were sister and brother. --- Julia Oliver, Montgomery, Alabama

I am one of Ed's two Alabama aunts. My name is Julia Parker Oliver; I am a writer in Montgomery, Alabama. My sister, Christine Parker Pursell, was named for Ed's mother, who was our aunt. The Parkers were a prominent central Alabama family. My father, who was Ed's uncle, was mayor of Sylacauga. Ed's grandfather had been the town's first railroad station agent in the late 1900s.

Ed George was the son of my great aunt (the sister of my grandfather). Unfortunately, I never had the pleasure of meeting him. I have heard so many nice things about him and his family through the years. I wish the family the very best and would love to connect.

I am sorry to hear about Ed's passing. I had the pleasure to grow up around some of the cases that Ed and my grandfather, Albert C.S. Ramsey, handled in the 1970s and 1980s, and Ed gave me useful advice at the beginning of my own career as a lawyer--there's always a place for good lawyers. He will be missed.

I was privileged to be Ed's legal investigator "Josie" for about three decades. He, Albert, Tim, Kay and I shared many adventures and enjoyed helping those in need. Ed had amazing knowledge, resources and skills that he shared with his many lawyer buddies. Ed was quick to give comfort to the needy in all corners of society. He was respected by so many as evidenced by awards for lifetime achievements. To this day I get calls from grateful former clients whose lives and families Ed saved. He...

We never forgot your kindness to us all.
We will miss you forever.

Ed was more than a friend and colleague in the law. He was a role model who will always be remembered for his civility, professionalism, courtesy, humility, dignity, honesty and integrity. I always felt honored just to be in his presence. I knew him as an attorney, as a fellow member of the Long Beach Inn of Court, as a member of the Committee on Jury Instructions (CALJIC), and as an attorney who appeared many times in my courtroom. I looked forward to each time we were scheduled to meet, and...

I'm saddened to hear about the passing of Ed George. Most police officers from the 1960's forward grew up knowing Ed George in the Long Beach court building. Ed was a friend to many who loved being in the officer's corner when there was a significant legal issue for an officer. There was no better attorney anywhere to have on your side. Many years ago it was Ed George and Paul Meyer who teamed up and helped me through troubled waters. I'm thankful every day for their expertise and kindness.

Ed was a wonderful friend, and a key mentor in my life. There was no better person to trust with your life or legal dilemmas. His penetrating wisdom made me grow up on more than one occasion, and I know that is true for all of us. When Ed looked you in the eye, you know that he loved you; it was not a passing reference -- Ed carried you in his heart, and taught you to carry others in the same way. Juries certainly saw that. I learned more about life and the law in the trials I was...
