Not sure what to say?

A very nice, thoughtful man. He was good for Auburn Schools. Actually, the best we ever had!!
My sympathies to the family.

I thank Ed for the positive impact he had on generations of kids who attended Newcastle and Auburn Elementary Schools. As superintendent of Newcastle, I was amazed when he was able to lead a group of concerned citizens and parents who passage a school bond initiative during a time of extreme anti tax sentiment was incredible. I will miss his quick wit, charm and dedication to the community. We have been blessed to have been touched by such a man and our lives are richer for it.

We are long time Newcastle residents and were happy that Mr. Gilligan was so invoved with our school and community as our kids went to school here. He will be remembered as a great man and a gentlemen. Peace.

I worked with Ed as a subsitute teacher at Newcastle Elementary and as a full time teacher at Auburn Union. I also was a band parent at PUSD. I also worked with Maureen. I loved them both and they will always be in my heart. Kathy, Gary, Kevin, and families please accept my and Christopher's sincere condolences. Jacque and Christopher Norris

Ed was a mentor to our sons and a dear friend of our family. His Irish humor and ever present sense of family and community will be missed by all of us.

This morning at the 10:30 Mass I looked to the place where Ed usually sat. I am sorry for the family -it is a great loss. I know, though, that there's another angel watching out for us. Thank you.

I knew Ed as a sweet, caring man with a wonderful sense of humor. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to know him. Bless his soul.

Ed Gilligan served the students and staff of Auburn Union with integrity, heart, and graciousness. When he retired as our leader, he always continued to give of his energy, time, and financial support to provide for the needs of Auburn students. He will be sorely missed by AUSD employees, students and families.

May the blessing of light be upon you,
Light on the outside,
Light on the inside.

With God's sunlight shining on you,
May your heart glow with warmth,...

Ed was a wonderful principal to know and work with during his years at Newcastle Elem. Great sense of humor /so many fun memories.
