Grew up just a few houses away from Ed on York street in S.F. I remember him as the park director at Rolf Playground on Hampshire. I remember him chalking the softball field before the games on weekends. He made that chalk line as straight as a string! He used to let me take out a basketball for the evening and held my belt as security - not sure how my pants didn't fall down while playing b-ball! He was a nice guy, but you knew not to cross him.
