I still tell the story of how Ed sent me a message by way of a Seabee on Guadalcanal. (How he knew what outfit I was in, I do not know.) The message told me that he was in the harbor and on what ship. I immediately went down to the beach head and got a liberty boat from another ship to drop me of at his ship.
