Edward Hansbury Obituary

Edward Richard Hansbury, 71, passed away Oct. 17, 2025, at Moffitt Hospital in Tampa, after a battle with cancer. Ed was born in Miami, on June 19, 1954, to Forrest F. Hansbury and Emma Rose Wood.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Stonaker Hansbury; his daughters, Lauren Marie Hansbury and Kristin Elizabeth Hansbury Brewer and son-in-law Russell Brewer; his sisters, Carolyn Edwards and her family and Janet Hill and her family.

Ed served his community well as an officer and Sergeant with Miami-Dade Police Department for 33 years. Many sought him out for his knowledge and experience. During his retirement years he resided with his family in Citrus County.

Ed will be missed by many, but especially by his family. He was a great husband, father and friend. Until we meet again, Ed, rest in peace. You are forever in our hearts.

A private service will be held in Citrus County.

I am saddened to hear of Ed´s passing. I was a newly promoted sergeant serving in the Cutler Ridge District back in 1996 and I was fortunate that Ed took me under his wing and showed me the ropes. He was a selfless individual who would give the shirt off his back to help someone else. RIP
